Ref. : Recruitment of Nurses from Bangladesh for the NHS
Dear Sir,
19 February 2023
The Voice for Global Bangladeshis is an international Global Organisation based in London where we try to
represent nearly 15 million Non Resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) who live and work in the UK, USA, Canada,
Europe, Middle East, South East Asia and Australia. I am the President of this organisation.
Since your instruction to UK civil servants last August 2022 to ‘systematically increase’ the recruitment of
NHS and Social Care staff, we have received several requests from Bangladesh for some freshly retired nurses
to go and visit Bangladesh for a period of 3/4 months and train Bangladesh nurses to the required international
standards.
The objective is, as I understand, once a system of training is established, Bangladesh can join countries like
India, Sri Lanka or the Phillipines; to create a steady yearly supply of trained nurses for the UK.
I have attached below the letter addressed to you, received only today, 19th of February 2023, from
Bangladesh Orthopaedic Surgeon Prof. Qazi Shahidul Alam requesting the same.
Prof Alam is the Chairman of the Bangladesh Islamic Bank Foundation; which has 19 Hospitals, a medical
college, a dental College and 2 Nursing Colleges in Bangladesh. They need 2/3 nursing teachers to help them
train their nurses to international standards including proficiency in English and IT.
I shall be very grateful if you can kindly advise.
With best regards.
Yours sincerely,
Dr. Hasanat M. Husain MBE
President, Voice for Global Bangladeshis VfGB.
