Dear Sir,
We are members of the ‘Voice for Global Bangladeshis – VfGB’ based in London and we try to represent the ‘Non-Resident Bangladeshis (NRBs)’ who live and work in USA, Canada, UK, Europe, Middle East, South East Asia and Australia; in their hours of difficulties, need and stress.
These NRBs work hard in host countries and send their hard-earned money to Bangladesh to feed their family members. This year, the worldwide Corona pandemic has put a great majority of these NRBs in great hardship. In this global disaster, many NRBs have lost their jobs, work permits and shelter in the countries they work, many are also being refused safe return to their village homes by their home country due to shortage of air transport, money and. planning. Our job is to raise their issues with the host country as well as with their home country i.e. Bangladesh.
Recently we drew your attention to the plight of Bangladeshi women garment workers in Jordan. We would like to express our gratitude to you for your timely intervention to resolve the issue. We have been told that the management of the garments company, the ‘Classic Fashion’ had agreed to take back all the distressed Bangladeshi workers. It is also reported that the Company has agreed with your Ministry, to employ 12000 more garments workers
from Bangladesh in the new year 2021. Most other countries reduced their workforces failing to continue operating their factories and manufacturing facilities. As a result of which, hundreds of thousands of overseas workers are being compelled to go back to home countries losing their jobs.
We are also aware of your efforts to ensure safe and free return of NRB dead bodies from Lebanon.
We, therefore, on behalf of our worldwide Organization, the ‘Voice for Global Bangladeshis’; would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude and thanks to you.
Should you require, we would like to assure you that we shall remain available, to be of any assistance regarding matters related to NRBs.
With our best regards.
Yours very sincerely,
Dr. Hasanat Mohammad Husain MBE
President
Voice for Global Bangladeshis
